I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families that have experienced various types of trauma. My counseling style is client-centered, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed. I began my journey toward becoming a LPC upon earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University. I then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guidance with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Louisiana Tech University.
I have worked with many different individuals and families with an array of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, abuse, neglect, child behavioral issues and attachment issues. I have extensive experience working with at-risk youth through child welfare, children in the foster care system, and adoptive families. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help change unhealthy thought and behavior patterns. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a psychotherapy treatment used to alleviate the symptoms of trauma. I use EMDR Therapy to help process negative and traumatic experiences and decrease symptoms that are causing distress. I am also in the process of becoming credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist. I use Play Therapy with children to help them process emotions and work through problematic behaviors.
My goal is to help individuals and families achieve their goals through positive change and strengthening relationships. I believe all people have the ability within themselves to achieve their goals.
